I am a 53-year old mother, grandmother, wife, and web developer. I started working at the age of 15 at a local restaurant drive-thru (Bud's Chicken and Seafood). I was living on my own and supporting myself. At the age of 16, I went to work at Airborne Express as a delivery driver. My original delivery route was the island of Palm Beach; my second route was a complete county (Martin County) and some surrounding cities. It was the largest territory any driver had. When I was 20 years old, I was offered a position in their Customer Support Department. I was quickly promoted to Customer Service Manager.
Then I married and had two beautiful children. My son is 31 (6 year old granddaughter and 3 year old grandson) and my daughter is 28. My daughter was diagnosed at the age of 6 with severe systemic JRA. My husband is a glass and glazing contractor. He has been working primarily for the past 20+ years for one client, Palm Beach Atlantic University. For most of those 20 years, I have been a stay-at-home mother, selling on eBay as a Power Seller for at least 10-15 years to supplement our income. Eventually, due to my daughter's health, I started home schooling our children.
My son grew up working with his dad (my husband) at Palm Beach Atlantic University. My son's first job (not working for us) was at the age of 20 writing php code. His pay started at more than $40k. The University told him he was earning more than their college grads. He currently earns over $200k a year. With no college degree.
In June 2019, I decided to take the knowledge I had learned over the years and build WordPress websites for clients. My daughter works for me part time, allowing her time to focus on her medical needs. Since June 2019, we have built more than 100+ websites.
